Meet Our Gator Scholars

We are the San Francisco State's Gator Scholars! A group of current students that serve as the first point of contact for visitors and respond to inquiries about student life at San Francisco State. We assist the recruitment, outreach, and K-10th team to provide support and bring well qualified students to the campus.

We are very fortunate to be able to share our experiences with you and show you why we love being a gator. We are so proud to represent our university at several events, presentations, school visits and so much more!

Julan Davis

Hello, my name is Julan Davis. I am a first year, Business Administration major at SF State. I am planning to get involved in the Black Unity Center on campus and get involved with sports leagues in the Mashouf Wellness Center as well. I chose SF State for their high proficiency for business majors. Being located in the Bay Area, makes SF State the perfect place to network. This University provides a lot of opportunities to prepare me to be best that I can be going into my career. Being able to get such a rounded education, hands on experience while being in such a beautiful campus really gets me the best of both worlds.

Monica Flores Huete

Hello! My name is Monica Flores Huete. I’m from the East Bay, specifically from Pittsburg. I’m majoring in Criminal Justice and hope to become an immigration lawyer. From the moment I stepped foot on campus, San Francisco State felt like home. It was important for me to choose a university that made me feel listened to and where my dreams were supported. As someone passionate about social justice issues, I was drawn and absolutely captivated by the representation, diversity, awareness, and promotion of creativity on campus. This university has provided me with not only the tools to grow but also surrounded me with unconditional love, patience, and support. As a student employee at UGAR, I have such fun meeting and interacting with prospective students at our events!

Eaindray Pyone Kyi

Hi! My name is Eaindray (aka Ashlynn). I am an international student from Yangon, Myanmar (Burma). I'm majoring in interior design and hope to become an Interior Design Consultant, however; San Francisco State makes it so easy to select a different major or minor and I have decided to add Nutrition Sciences to my curriculum, given that it is my second passion. I chose SF State because of all the opportunities it provides. I love how SF State is a home to a diverse group of students, while offering a sense of belonging and supporting to everyone of us. In addition, SF State offers a bachelor's degree concentrated for my major which is rare. Another think that I enjoy about the campus is the workspace community with amazing people. It is the best I could have asked for.

Summer Smith

Summer Smith

Hello! my name is Summer and I am originally from Los Angeles. I am currently majoring in Visual Communication Design with a minor in Marketing. My professional goal is to become a math teacher for 6-12th graders and a Visual Content Creator. I chose SF State because of the diversity of the campus but also how student-centered the campus is in regards to the student-to-teacher ratio. I wanted to choose a campus what was invested in not just my educational growth, but my personal development as well. I hold multiple jobs on campus, one of them includes being a Gator Scholar under the Office of Undergraduate Recruitment. I love working for UGAR because of the amazing people we work with and also all the aspiring students we meet. UGAR allows me to take on projects that fit my skill level while also helping me overcome my not so strongest areas. The office cares for not only its students that come to campus, but also the students that work there. At the end of the day, they want you to succeed in all aspects and feel supported in any and everywhere you need to.
